MEDICAL
The medical facilities are superb in Spain offering a first class National health service (social security) which is free to those within the EEC with reciprocal arrangements (you should contact your local Spanish Embassy for more details) and those with E1.11 forms. La Marina offers a National health doctors surgery. For an emergency Guardamar is within a 10 minute drive. The three main hospitals are all within driving distance. La Marina also offers a private English speaking clinic. Private health insurance is also available at competitive rates.

EDUCATION
Spanish schooling is excellent and of a high standard. For those of you with your children it is best to move them straight into a Spanish school where they will be taught English as a second language and very quickly they will be speaking Spanish. There are plenty of private and European schools in close proximity. All local Schools provide a free bus service, collecting and returning your children to a number of bus stops on the urbanization. As with English schooling, education is a priority and all subjects are taught: Spanish, English, Maths, Geography, History, Music, Physical education… A canteen allows your children to eat, providing a wonderful Mediterranean diet. Children are also encouraged to take part in local fiestas, this gives them a great deal of fun and excitement, and it gives you the parents the joy of watching them integrate easily into the local community.

WEALTH TAX & RATES
This is a yearly tax paid by non-residents. Your solicitor will see that it is paid on your behalf.

As a non-resident you are required to have a fiscal representative. Your representative will take care of all your fiscal and legal obligations, leaving you to sit back, relax and enjoy life.RESIDENCEIf and when you wish to become a resident, your fiscal representative will apply for all the relevant paperwork and take care of any legal matters.PETSIt is possible to bring your pets with you; you will need to speak to your local vet with regards to the required inoculations that are necessary. Situated on La Marina is an English speaking vet with a veterinary hospital located in Guardamar, which is a 10 minute drive from La Marina.

COMMUNITY FEES
No longer required on re-sale properties in La Marina, unless they have a communal swimming pool or belong to a residential area of similar properties, e.g new builds. It is a democratic law in which enables a community to run in accordance with the wishes of the majority (the minority´s rights are still protected). All communities have to elect a president, administrator, secretary and treasurer. These persons are responsible to the owners for the sensible running of the community and from time to time to report to the owners on all matters.
